Profile knowledge base
A profile’s knowledge base is what that profile should always know, wherever it is used: a style guide for an editor, the rules of a game system for a game master, a glossary for a translator. Open it from the Library with Open knowledge base.
Three kinds of item
Section titled “Three kinds of item”| Item | How it’s used | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Always-on file | Sent with every reply while it is on. | Short, essential rules: a style sheet, a list of forbidden words. |
| Searchable file | Split into chunks; only the relevant parts are sent. | Long reference: a rulebook, a lore bible, research. |
| Custom memory | A fact or rule you write by hand, with a title and tags. Comes up when the turn is about it, or mentions one of its tags. | Single facts you want found reliably, under names you choose. |
Files can be PDF, DOCX, TXT or MD. A searchable file is indexed on this computer: its text is split into passages and each passage gets an embedding, so it can be found by meaning as well as by its words. See How Kallamo finds context.
Working with items
Section titled “Working with items”- Filter the list by kind, or search in content to find a passage.
- Turn an item off with its switch. Switched-off items count for nothing and are not sent.
- Open a searchable file to read its chunks, edit a chunk, or delete one. The rest of the file stays.
- The header shows how much is sent every reply, so you can see what the always-on items cost.
Tags on custom memories
Section titled “Tags on custom memories”Tags are the names a memory should answer to. A memory titled “Magic costs” with the tags mana, spell, ritual comes up when a turn mentions any of them, even if the wording is different from the memory’s text.
Move it between profiles
Section titled “Move it between profiles”Import knowledge base brings in a .klkb file, and the knowledge base can be exported the same way, without the profile’s settings. See Share profiles and workflows.
