Your first roleplay

New installs open with Evenwell, a village story with a cast to choose from. It is the quickest way to see the Narrative State at work.

1. Press Begin on Evenwell

   Evenwell sits on the launch screen. The story is run by the Narrator profile, so give it a model first if the Library shows Needs a model (how).

2. Meet the world

   A short introduction presents the village and its places. You can skip it.

3. Pick a character

   Step through the cast and read where each one starts. Press Play as to take that role, or Create my character to make someone new. A short guide then walks you through their sheet in Worldbuild.

4. Play

   Write what your character does or says. After each reply, the Narrative State records the scene, the clock and what each character now knows.

Tip

The village knows things your character does not. What others know stays out of your scene until someone in it learns it. See Perspective and Knowledge.

Roleplay in your own workspace

Any workspace can become a roleplay. Open Configuration at the right of the workspace tabs and turn on Roleplay. Then choose:

• Player character: who you play.
• Location: where the scene is.
• Taking part, Nearby and Objects here: the rest of the scene.
• A scenario name and what is happening right now.

Turning roleplay off keeps every scene, value and history entry for later. See The scene for every field, and Narrative State for what happens after each reply.
