The workspace
A workspace holds one story: its conversations, its manuscript, its world and its memory. Everything inside it shares one canon, so the chat, the Writing Desk and the narrator all read the same sheets and the same memory.
Workspaces live on the launch screen. The tabs at the top of a workspace open its rooms.
The rooms
Section titled “The rooms”| Tab | What happens there |
|---|---|
| Workspace | The chat. Talk to a profile or run a workflow, brainstorm, or play a roleplay. |
| Writing | The Writing Desk: chapters, AI suggestions as diffs, notes and analyses. |
| Worldbuild | The canon: characters, places, factions, items, races, creatures, events and systems, plus the calendar, facts and rules. |
| Memory | What the AI carries: always-on notes, searchable files and the archive of older chat. |
| Files | The workspace’s files. Attach one to the message you are writing. |
Configuration, at the right of the tabs, holds the workspace’s own settings: which profiles and workflows can run here, how much the AI reads, the Writing Desk, Roleplay, and the look of the chat. See Workspace configuration.
The chat
Section titled “The chat”- Choose who replies. The picker in the message box lists the profiles and workflows this workspace allows. A profile that needs a model says so.
- Attach files by dropping them on the message box, or from the Files tab.
- Switch replies. Regenerate a reply and step between the versions with the arrows under it.
- Edit your message or a reply, copy it, or revert the chat to any message.
- Drop from context keeps a message in the chat but stops the AI from reading it. Restore to context brings it back.
- Diagnostics under each reply show what the AI received and what it cost, when they are turned on. See Diagnostics.
Example workspaces
Section titled “Example workspaces”New installs come with two:
- Evenwell, a roleplay village with a cast to choose from. Press Begin on the launch screen. See Your first roleplay.
- The Lighthouse, a writing project with a first chapter, profiles for editing, brainstorming and review, and a small world.
Make it look like the story
