Workspace configuration

Each workspace has its own Configuration, at the right of the workspace tabs. App-wide options are in Settings.

Choose which AI profiles and workflows can run in this workspace. Only these appear in the message box and in the Writing Desk. Filter the list to find one.

How much the AI reads on each request, and when older messages are archived.

Option What it does
Max API payload Everything sent on one request. Retrieved context and older history are trimmed to fit. A smaller limit on the connection wins.
Archive threshold When the active conversation reaches this size, older messages are ready to be summarised.
Active conversation size How full the conversation is: archived, active and dropped messages. Summarize now archives right away. Rebuild everything redoes the archive.
Summarize automatically Archive on its own when the threshold is reached.
Context meter in the message box Shows how full the active conversation is, next to the attach button.

Below them, every archived summary: rename it, rebuild it, finish it, or delete it and drop its messages. See Long conversations.

What the AI reads when you ask it about a highlighted passage.

Option What it does
Reading size A chapter that fits is read whole. A longer one is read around your selection, with related notes. Lower it for tighter, faster answers.
Include chat history Lets the Desk see this workspace’s conversation. Turn it off if the chat’s tone or language is leaking into your prose.

Turn roleplay on, choose the player character and set the scene. See The scene.

What the AI writes down after each reply, how its changes are applied (Manual, Review everything, Automatic), what waits for review, recent activity and retries, and Tidy. See Narrative State.

Background art and message transparency for this workspace’s chat:

Option What it does
Background An image behind the chat.
Background dimming How much the image is darkened, so text stays readable.
Your messages / AI messages How see-through each kind of message is, from solid to fully transparent.
