Entities and templates

Worldbuild keeps the people, places, factions and items of your story, and the rules that hold them together. Register something once and every room reads the same sheet: the narrator, the brainstorming partner and the editor.

Kind What it holds
Characters Relationships seen from each side, inventory, portraits.
Locations Sized as Region, Area, Place or Spot, each inside the next.
Factions Command, territory, roster, former members, stance.
Items Weapons, tools, documents. Some hold pages you can read.
Races Peoples a character belongs to, with starting values.
Creatures A specific being or a whole species.
Events Each time it happened, who was there, what it changed.
Systems Laws, magic systems, doctrines, currencies.

Search finds a sheet by any of its names (Ctrl K). Create starts a new one; nothing is saved until you press create at the end.

  • Data: who they are, their skills and story.
  • Inventory: what they carry.
  • Connections: factions, places and relationships. Local to says where someone comes from; they know what the locals there know.
  • Knowledge: what they know, and what they only believe. See Perspective and Knowledge.

Other names catches nicknames and titles: when the story uses any of them, it points to the sheet. Open the ⋯ menu by the name to add a portrait.

Entity types, in the world tools, set the fields each kind of sheet has. Add your own fields to a template and every sheet of that kind gets them. Templates and custom fields travel with the world when you export it.

Each sheet sets what the AI may do with it:

  • Open writes changes straight in.
  • Review asks you first. This is the default.
  • Locked never changes it.

As the story moves, the AI proposes new sheets and changes to existing ones. They land in Waiting for review on the world overview until you accept or reject them. Update entities reads the latest chapters or messages again and suggests what changed; locked sheets are skipped.
